Literature Text

If I were a mystery, I'd do it for hire,
Back alleys springing my occupation
As a gaunt mask volunteer out of the brown-black
Brick at my back, filth smeared bootheel movement
Smerking behind faceless stone shadow without a purpose.

If I were a mystery, I'd do it for you,
Sick, grey curl of blood, smoke, and laughter,
Brother in name glowing above my cityscape-
Wire full torso mercenary, I am your mask, you my eyes
And while I sell my soul for acquiescence
You ask me to be your agent in the dark and
Cast me off when my face cracks through china fichers
Weeping bile for betrayal, the things I've done to see.
free verse poem about a seriously manipulative individual I knew...
